This is the basic preparation method of nut butter ingredients in many of the sauces and other recipes. Cashew has a light flavor that doesn't intrude with other ingredients such as sweeteners, herbs and spices which is why it is used so often. You can also use this in place of peanut butter. The preparation is the same with turning ANY nut into a butter.
Place cashews in food processor. Turn on high and let process until it becomes smooth cashew butter. It will take about 5-10 minutes. Scrape down sides of processor, if needed.
You can stop here and use it. Or continue to make Cashew Creme - a base for many dressings or sauces.
Place 1/2 cup cashew butter in a small bowl or clean out food processor and place in food processor. Add 1/4 cup of hot water. Blend with immersion blender or process until smooth. Add more water for desired consistency.
Note: If you have a large food processor you made need to put in more than 2 cups of nuts. If there is not sufficient volume of nuts, it will not turn into nut butter.
